I've been esentially dead on here for half a year or so...
And I'm sorry to say that I'm probably not back for long. Honestly, I'm here to run an explanation by you all and ask you for your opinions.
Okay. So this started out as something to get my mind more centered towards studies. It had a moderate success, but the bigger point to the matter is that it made me realize that the kind of writng I'd been doing was good for helping me to write better, but I no longer am able to come up with an original plot, with original charcters, and retain any real amount of decency. Long story short: everything I write is either crap or fanfiction. (Or invloves my regular characters, to whom I've grown too attatched to write about well.) I continued drawng, and have a few sketches I may put up, but I've long lost intrest in it.
Alas, I missed my friends, and returned a month or so later... to find more deviations and journals than I wanted to deal with. I've lurked around occationally, negecting my inboxes... and I don't think I'll ever get around to 145 journals and fifty-some deviations. Very sorry, but I will read or view anything in paticular you want me to see if you post it here for me.
ALRIGHT. Now for your help... and I need honest-to-whatever-you-worship answers. I've come up with a plot that Im partial to, and 'd like your opinions... (I'll be telling you the ending... sorry.)
Unnamed Main Character Guy (UMCG for short) has the ability to see other people's distant futures. They aren't set in stone, but there's a general picture to them, and the details change with minor and major decisions that they make. He's attending college, his third year, and he has fallen head over heals in love with a girl, and they are engaged... except he sees her future differently.
He sees five futures for her, and two of them are awful. Another two are ideal lives, but the last on is boarderline perfect.. Big issue- he isn't in any of her futures. Bigger issue, she seems to be moving towards the very worst road since the proposal. After a great deal of personal strife, he calls off the engagement. Now she's heading down the second worst path.
He's mortified. It's not as bad, but her future still contains an abusive boyfriend/husband type person, and she is a drug addict. After many other attempts, at wit's end, he breaks it off with her. Her future takes a sudden dive to one of the 'alright' paths, the better of the two. He has mixed feelings about this, but he's relived to see a better future for her. Anyway, after a long while of her being furious with him, and him being miserable, they manage to become friends again. One more her future shifts to- and I'm worried about the predictablility of this- the lesser of the two alright lives. He now cannot see any of the worst futures, and a new one appears to him. It is a happy life, but troubled. She was injured severely at one point, still feels the effects, and dies early. Having already given up so much, he ends up nearly driving himself insane trying to find the trigger, and he can't. He distances himself, pushes her towards and away people, and even tries hooking her up with others.
I have to go, so to make a the ending short- something moves the trigger by itself, and he is immensly relieved. He goes to get new books for a new semester, and on his way to his car, when he is hit by a car... who had crossed an intersection just before his girl did, and swerved off the road to avoid another car. (She sees it and gets out, begins rambling, and mentions something that made her just a minutes late, and how she could have missed him- even though he knows she couldn't have.) The book ends with him literally dying on the ground, making realizations.
Moribid, yes. Sweet if you think about it. Also, the book itself is more sentimental, I just wrote it objectively. Anyway... thoughts?
